First and foremost, I am glad for you as I read this. I think these kind of revelations give us peace. I once had a dear friend tell me that my son, who was struggling at the time, was so lucky that God put him in our family. That has stuck with me. God gave him to us... so even though my family has had problems, has problems, will have problems, God gave us each other. And like you, we are a lot of who we are because of all of that. We can choose to use that positively or negatively. We can choose to support and love, or deny and hate. Pretty significant. And choosing friends... I do better as an adult, thank goodness. :) I am glad I chose you. We have a good circle of friends... hey, is that an organization? I heard they help people... and the director is hot. Wait, I didn't hear that really...

so true - I think you are absolutely right. Many folks that go to church to 'get God' only get the flavor of the leadership team at that church with their experiences... and don't get the billion other faucets of Jesus.

but, alas, that last piece is the point... we'll never figure out Jesus in His entirety this side of Eternity...but that shouldn't keep us from getting to know all we can about Him!!

I have known Nick for a while now, but had the pleasure of getting to know him much better memorial day weekend. My son and I, along with another family, Nick, and his brother went camping. This was my first camping experience, and if you know me very well, I was not looking foward to it. I am quite a girly girl. My idea of a good time does not include sleeping in a tent or not taking a shower for two days. Nick was bound and determined to make my weekend as pleasant as possible. This coming from a guy I barely knew. When we got there, all of the tents were already set up. We even had a kitchen complete with running water and a stove! I thought to myself, this might not be so bad afterall. That night, we had a conversation by the campfire. He told me of his dreams to find the right woman that he could spend the rest of his life with, but most importantly one that would make a good mother to his daughter. We also taked about how much a child can change your life. The next morning, i woke up to the smell of eggs and sausage already being prepared for me. He had made breakfast for all 8 of us! We then set out for our canoe float trip. I was in a canoe with Nick. I sat in the front. He was in the back with the oars. During our trip, all of the canoes in our group tipped over at least once. Each time, Nick would hurredly dive into the water to "rescue" all that were involved. Nick was determined to keep me from falling in the water, even if it meant that he might get drenched. By the end of our float trip, I was the only one out of 8 who still remained dry :).
All I can think about since Nick's passing is that trip. He was so incredibly sweet and really wanted to make my first camping experience an enjoyable one. That night he asked me if I wanted to come back next year. Of course I said yes.
It is amazing how spending such little time with a person can leave a lasting impression on your life. Having a son myself, I am heart broken for his little girl. I hope that the people around her continue to teach her about the amazing, selfless person her dad was. His one goal in life was to make his daughter, and anyone he came in contact with, happy.

Nick was a lab assistant in my EMT class this past spring semester and always helped in any way he could to help us pass the class..he was a great guy..everytime i'd be driving around and i'd see a party bus i'd look to see if it was him..he had a great sense of humor and helped make the class fun.

so Nick, thank you so much for everything...i didnt know you as well as others did but as much as i did, i appreciate everything you did for me and those around you. it saddens me to know that maddy will have to grow up without her amazing father in her life, but i pray that she remembers you in every way she can and never forgets how much you loved her and would do anything for her...i look forward to seeing you on the other side, and riding your party bus in the sky!! :) R.I.P. darlin....you are missed dearly...

I could not have said it better myself.. I have known Nick for many years growing up in Andover and reciently through facebook reconnected again. Since then, I have ran into him and his daughter at the grocery store and such. He adored his little girl and would do anything for her. I pray for peace and strength for his family and his little girl..

And.. to many, he will ALWAYS be a HERO!!!
